back of that trailer, which is similar to standing in the back of a pickup truck, albeit not as open. If I start fast or stop fast, gravity gets my horse. These animals cost upwards of thousands of dollars and are very easily injured. In many cases, this sacrifices someone’s livelihood as well as their pets.
I live in fear of being cut off and being tailgated - it is unbelievable what happens when a horse trailer gets rear ended - unlike hitting a large tractor-trailer, the car behind me won’t just cause minimal frame damage. You will kill my horse, and you put yourself in extreme danger - imagine a horse going through your windshield.
Essentially, I am writing to beg - please use common sense. Please give horses and horse trailers the space and respect that they need, and help us prevent unnecessary tragedies. I ride my horse and drive my rig in the manner that is safest for everyone on the road, and I hope everyone else will do the same.
