Deaconess Mary L. Jordan died on Wednesday, July 26.
She was a fighter, despite all of the pain she endured, because of her illness. She was a kind and heart warming person. She always had a smile, and enjoyed conversations.
Mrs. Jordan was bom July 4, 1928 in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Wade and Madalene Freeman.
She was educated in Rappahannock County and Manassas Industrial High School. At an early age she was baptized and became a member of the Promise Land Baptist Church, joined the Senior Choir and became a deaconess and usher. She served on the Food Committee for many years.
Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Thomas E. Jordan.
She is survived by two daughters, Odessa Freeman of Woodville and Beverly Jackson of Springfield, VA.
Additional survivors include a sister, Mildred Butler of Spenyville, a niece, Charlotte Fauntroy, two nephews, Warren Freeman and James Freeman, Jr., cousins, relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on August 1 at the Promise Land Baptist Church in Washington. Interment was followed at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodville.
