Last Thursday, the Panther boys soccer team lost 1-0 in a long fought battle against the George Mason Mustangs that extended into double overtime.
“It was a great game, I tell you what,” said Head Varsity Soccer Coach Shay Bell about the district championship game. George Mason was first in the District, while Rappahannock was second.
Monday, a deflated Rappahannock team lost their first regional game against Riverhead High School with a final score of 2-1.
The game against George Mason went back and forth throughout both halves of the game without either team scoring.
Rappahannock played very defensively during the first half and the Mustangs were unable to exploit the few breakdowns in the defense for a goal. In the second half the Panthers were still on the defensive as goalie Arne Utne scrambled to block every shot sent his way.
