This Memorial Day was very special in Rappahannock County. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1150 made it possible so that future generations of this community can honor and celebrate those who have given their lives for this country.
“For the sacrifices they made and the prices they had to pay, thank you kind soldiers for fighting for the USA.”
These words from the song, “Thank you, kind soldier,” composed by Brian Taylor and sung with Bob Chappell on Monday morning symbolized the spirit of the VFW Post 1150 Memorial Dedication in Sperryville Cemetery.
About 200 people took time from their holiday to honor not only those who are deceased, but also, in the words of Post Commander D- Lee Hitt, to “support lire troops in action as we speak.”
Aileen Johnson read a poem “A Salute to the Military” that reminded those present that “Some never returned their story to tell.”
