And Shenandoah National Park biologist Jim Atkinson says coyotes have not posed any problem for campers and hikers in the park. “That’s a non-issue,” he emphasized.
The Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries Department recommends that we all do our part to keep coyotes wild and wary by removing pet food from outside access and discouraging them from getting too close to human dwellings. This is one animal that we don’t even have to see to enjoy — just keep your ears tuned, especially just after sunset, and you too may here the howl of the wild canid.
