Our RCHS Panther Bands
returned from their Spring Competition Trip with lots of trophies and plenty of wonderful memories of a great trip.
The Panther Concert Band won top honors among other “A” high schools and the award of Best Overall Concert Band, defeating 4 “AA” high schools as well. The Marching Band also took the top award for Parade Bands and the young Jazz Ensemble placed third among six bands. Band Director Matt Yonkey was very pleased with the students’ performance, saying, “This is the third consecutive year our band has achieved “best overall” in regional adjudications.”
After an adventurous afternoon of roller coasters, the band retired to their hotel. Bright and early that Sunday morning the group took the ferry to Ellis Island where a number of students looked up their family’s origins in America and then visited the Statue of Liberty.
