Joel B. Yowell
Friends in Rappahannock
Joel Byrd Yowell passed away Saturday, May 26.
He was the son of the late A. Waverly Yowell and Elizabeth Hale Yowell.
Mr. Yowell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Graves “Betty Lynn” Yowell; two daughters, Carolyn Y. Kardos and husband Gary A. Kardos, Nancy Byrd Gaylord and husband Richard S. Gaylord; a son, Joel Thomas Yowell and wife Kathy Denison Yowell, six grandsons, and seven granddaughters.
Additional survivors include three brothers; Jack Yowell and wife Maiy, Everett Yowell and wife Barbara and Mayo Yowell and wife Jean, three sisters; Mary Francis Rosson, Peggy Yowell Eure and Betty Jane Hall.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert William Yowell.
After graduating from Criglersville High School in Madison County he served in the Pacific Area during WWII, then graduated from the University of Richmond. He was a retired agriculture teacher at the Madison County High School and adviser to the Young Farmer Organization, a past member of the Virginia and National Young Farmers Greene-Madison retired teachers, a member of VFW and the American Legion. Mr. Yowell was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 29, at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison, VA.,
A memorial' service was held on Wednesday, May 30 at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison, VA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Lutheran Church, F.T. Baptist Church, Madison County Rescue Squad or the Madison Fire Department.

Amissville resident
Nora Therese DeLorme Segrest, 77, of Amissville, died Saturday, May 26 at her residence.
She was the wife of William D. Segrest and was a retired auditor with First Virginia Bank.
Mrs. Segrest was bom in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Henry DeLorme and the late Exina Metivier DeLorme. She was a devoted, long-time member of Precious Blood Catholic Church
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Segrest is survived by three sons, Robert F. Segrest and his wife Jamie of Rixeyville, William S. Segrest and his wife Peggy of Bealeton, and Richard P. Segrest of Sterling; a daughter, Ann S. Rechin and her husband Jeff of Amissville.
Additional survivors include a sister, Pauline Vezina of Fitchburg, Mass, and five grandchildren.
