Rappahannock nearly tied the game in the top of the seventh. Down 2-0 with one out, Bobby Czekaj doubled to rightcenter. After a line out to second, Russell singled in Czekaj to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Will Miller sent Wegner's delivery to right-center. Jenkins held the speedy Russell, who was running with the pitch, at third, as the relay came off the fence along the first base line.
Russell came about halfway down the line before Jenkins held him up.
“Fve been told both ways - that Ethan could have made it, and that it was better that I held him,” Jenkins said.
