Technologies team of Clay Vickers, Matthew Bywaters, Tyler Crews, John Mello and Justin Fitzhiorris submitted the pre-conference research materials of collecting data and generating maps focusing on the last 400 years of historical developments across the Commonwealth ofVirginia.
This includes the 400th anniversary of Jamestown. Upon arriving they were given an onsite problem to solve. The team was provided two CDs of data relating to the Jamestown area. They were asked to incorporate GIS and GPS technologies to create a historical account of John Smith’s discoveries and travels.
