Since that first animal in 1984, coyotes have become increasingly common in the county. Just ask Rappahannock realtors Rick and Kaye Kohler, who between the two of them have seen two certain coyotes, and a third likely one, in the past few months. All three were on U.S. 211, one of them right by the turnoff into Little Washington. Rick actually took a picture of the animal, but by the time he got his camera into position it was almost out of view. Kaye was amazed when a coyote-like animal kept pace ahead of her car near ECow, before it finally crossed over the median and disappeared. Rick and Kaye later looked at a field guide to check the identity of what she had seen.
