More good news
Oh, happy day. Our screech owls are not only back, they have raised two babies. And, all I can say is the adults must have found a sack of mice in somebody’s bam. You never saw such fat baby owls. Part of it, I know, is those downy gray feathers that will soon be gone, but they are perched up there on a limb beside mom and pop, and they look like baby couch potato owls. They are quite chubby.
And we did get a little rain. I would have loved to have had a bit more, but I will be thankful for what we got. The asparagus responded well, and the garden is in better shape.
Old business
There are a'few left over items from the county budget process that might be worth mentioning. They always told me that the memory was one of the first things to go, and I can’t remember what the other things are, but that first one seems to be proving true.
Some complained this year that it was a shame that it was the school budget that was coming under fire. That seems a fair comment at first blush. But, let’s go back one year. There were a few people in the county that spoke out against the huge tax increase last year. The response
