“You will never forget seeing Everest,” he said. “It will change your life, and that’s special.”

He followed that up with another challenge that most would eschew. He ran up Mt. Kilimanjaro.

“I ran up Mt. Kilimanjaro in world record time, five hours and 28 minutes,” Burch said. “It features a 14,000-foot elevation gain, and I had to run 23 miles. The interesting thing is that you go through five different ecosystems. You start in a rain forest, and you end up in an alpine climate, and there’s no other mountain on earth like that.”

The height at the summit is 19,340 feet.

“Hyperfitness,” which took four years to write, is about these experiences as well as a program to get everyone fitter and healthier. Burch admits that the physical-sounding title is a bit misleading, though.

“It’s about hyperfitness living,” he explained. “It enhances your life. The mind is everything, and I show you how to have a positive attitude.

“The thing to remember is that I had no mountaineering experience when I started,” Burch continued. “Climbing
