Dietel Bookstore at the Middletown campus of Lord Fairfax Community College, and - they were major donors toward the renovation of the historic Washington school building for use as after school programs for CCLC
It's not uncommon to see Bill and Linda Dietel at a variety of functions in the county ranging from support of the Trinity Garden Club to the arts to education and 10 the enhancement of non profit businesses. They are outstanding citizens in every sense of the word and deeply vested in their community. Their many years of active efforts to make a difference have not gone unnoticed.
Jim Blubaugh has known the Dietels for over 25 years and recounts that he first met Linda when they served together on the board for CCLC in 1982. “The child care center, at that time, was located in the farmhouse that is now Goat Hill Farms. Linda was absolutely erucial in securing the financing we needed to build a permanent facility. The CCLC building on US 211 is testament to her vision and hard work.” said Blubaugh who added, “the Dietels have been involved in practically every miyor initiative in the county that is concerned with education, self-help and community service.”
Likewise, Amissville resident Kathryn Treanor. who has worked as Bill and Linda's assistant for 15 years, stated that, “they are inspiring people to work for Lots of people and organizations in Rappahannock count on Bill and Linda as volunteers and as teachers ”
"The Dietels have been an asset to education in this county. Theirs is a unique talent in being able to know how to get things done or finding who can do it.” remarked their county supervisor Roger Welch.
The Dietels current focus of attention is the conversion of the old school m Sperryvtlle into a community center for Rappahannock County. The center has been called “The Link”, which is an appropriate title for Bill and Linda Dietel themselves. They have been the link for dozens of worthwhile causes m Rappahannock, and they have created an infrastructure of giving and support that has become a hallmark of this county.
The Dietels aren’t attention grabbers nor do they seek public recognition for their efforts but their influence and impact has been felt in many ways, for many people and organizations and for many years It is way overdue and certainly a privilege to name as the Rappahannock News 21)07 Citizens of the Year, a very deserving, very personable and extremely charming and civilized couple Bill and landa Dietel Congratulations'
