Deer dump
About 10 dead deer wen? illegally dumped in the -Ionian River last week. The female deer, which were partially butchered to remove their hindquarters and tenderloins, were piled in the stream in an area where it passes under Bean Hollow Road.
Deputies from the Rappahannock . County SheritFs Office were at the scene Sunday, one neighbor told the Rappahannock News. As of Wednesday morning, the deer were out of the river and piled on dry land alongside Bean Hollow Road.
Ralph Bates, who lives on nearby Bear Wallow Road, saw the dead deer while walking with his wife, Gwen, on Monday.
