Bill Fletcher
A native son. Bill Fletcher has been in the news of late with his proposal to turn his estate into a hunting lodge and/or place when* a variety of events may be held. Many of his neighbors are opposed to these plans mid Bill has been taking some heat. But at the heart of his intent is to keep the vast majority of his acreage out of futun* developer’s hands and to continue the legacy that was established before him of preserving the rolling hills of Rappahannock.
Bill’s generosity is not always apparent to the general public as much of it is done behind-the-scenes and without fanfare but he is a supporter of many of the organizations vital to the operation of the county.
This past summer, Bill offered his fields ns the site of the July 4 fin*works fete and because* of his generosity and good citizenship, this favorite summertime gathering has new impetus and will undoubtedly become an annual event again now that it has a new homo.
With another year starting, it will be* another opportunity to start thinking about the 2008 Citizen! s) of the Year. There is no question that they an* out then* adding their personal touch to the lives of those who live in Rappahannock County.
