Donegan has been awarded three Legion of Merits, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Air Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals and two Navy Achievement Medals, lie has flown over 3,700 hours in 31 types of aircraft and landed on 15 aircraft carriers.
Donegan is now the director for strategy and policy with the Navy. He hopes to get out from behind his desk soon.
“Most people in the Navy prefer to be doing something at the sea,” he said. “As you get older you run out of opportunities to do that.”
