I was told that some have received telescopes for Christmas. I do hope that those wishing for a scope got one. I also hope that using it is a pleasure.
Here are some tips for new scope users.
After the telescope is assembled according to the instructions, the next consideration is aligning the finder scope. Every telescope comes with some type of finder.
This is usually a small scope of from 6 to 10 power that mounts on the large one. Sometimes, modem scopes come with a red dot finder. Either type must be lined up before use and this is best done in daylight. Point the scope at some object quite far off like the to of a light pole or an electrical insulator or whatever is handy for you. Be sure the scope is centered on the -target and then adjust the finder to the target. Now try pointing the scope to some objects using the finder and they should be in the field of view of the telescope. If not, try adjusting the finder again. For a little celestial
