ent no problem. It simply turns up and down and sideways, so using it is very easy. An equatorial mount must be aligned to the north star, Polaris, and then it can follow the objects in the sky as they move westward. The polar axis is pointed in the same direction as the axis of the Earth’s rotation. Turning the scope on this axis keeps it on the target.
Some folks are disappointed when they look through their telescope because they do not see the fascinating color images they have seen on telescope boxes and in magazines. So what is going on here? These images are acquired with photography. The eye can only process the photons of light that are currently stimulating the retina. Photo-graphic film or CCD detectors can store up the photon energy until there is enough to reveal the colors and hues of these objects.
