While having a difficult life, Hnley has managed to get an associates degree from Lord Fairfax Community College but if things go according to plan, Haley would like to one day expand her education. Tm thinking out loud here,” mused Haley, “but, I’d like to complete my degree and become a social worker. At one time I thought I’d want to work with victims of domestic violence because I know what that’s about but lately I’ve been thinking about working with either the elderly or the young - they can’t help themselves.” '
Haley is quick to tear as she reads aloud a letter that she wrote about facing her fears and conquering an addiction that has held a place in her life for far too long. “I’m not giving up," said Haley as she talked about her “new life" and how the other four women that she has shared quarters with are encouraging. “They give me the high five," chuckled Haley while saying, “Fly right."
Haley no longer wants to be a prisoner at the jail or a prisoner of her own mind. “I just want to go forward, to do better,” said Haley with a gregarious smile. “1 think I’m barred from returning to this place, they don’t want to see me back.”
‘It starts and ends with me.”
