Cows are still running on the Ladino in January, getting only “Pickins,” their hooves will crush the exposed runners and thus weaken the plants; also because of this exposure, damage may result should severe weather be had. In view of the above, and too because Ladino does not bed down into a tough sod like White Dutch Clover, it is recommended that it not be grazed closer than four inches in height. About this bit of improper management and what has been done about it Lieut. Sam A. Hill, the owner, writes; “Thank you for the tip, have removed the cows from the Ladino Clover field.' Congratulations Lieutenant^ and we hope the Ladino will furnish as luxuriant grazing in 1950 as it did in 1949.
