In announcing the Bradley award, Commander-in-Chief Clyde A. Lewis stated that the V.F.W. is highly pleased at being able to honor the head of the .Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is expected that c»n this occasion General Bradley will give public approval to the use of his name in connection with a similar annual V.F.W. award.
The new award will be known as the General Omar X. Bradley medal, to he presented annually — to some person making an outstanding contribution to national s e c uritvT" The a ward will b e ' c ofifined to three groups of persons. In order to lie eligible, the candidate will have to be a veteran or a member of the armed forces on active duty or an accredited war correspondent.
With the Second Session of the .sist Congress at work, it is expected that policies on important V.F.W. mandates will tie outlined at the two-day meeting, after which the X’ational Legislative Service will make every effort to have the wishes of the organiza* tion translated into bills for Congressional action.. These measures will cover pensions, adjusted service compensation, amendments to the National Service Life Insurance Act and many other phases of activity fro- the benefit of veterans of all wars.
All sessions will l»e held in the Statler Hotel, Omar B. Ketchuni, National Legislative Director, is chairman of the Advisory Committee planning the conference. Serving with him are George E. I.iams, N'ational Rehabilitation Director, and Leland P. Lovett, Public Relations Director. John
