E*rl Kilby, another member of the Agronomy Committee and a two time* member of the “Rappahannock 100-Bushel Corn Club and a former Extension TVA farm demonstrator, is recognized as one of the best farmers in Rappahannock. As an indication of the productivity of Mr. Kilby's 180-acre farm of which there are 94 acres in pastures, 137 acres in cropland, and 14 acres in orchard, he carried approximately 15 cows, 20 yearlings, 20 calves under a year old, 3 replacement heifers, 160 'hogs, about 350 fowl, and two horses the year around; this is the equivalent of 90 animal units. Says Mr. Kilby: “Pastures account for nearly 60% of my^ farm income.”
