During 1943 more 4-H dub leaders were secured, thus, a better 4-H program was put across. The following leaders have done a superb job in encouraging and helping the 4-H members complete their project: Mrs. Barbara Gentry, leader for Flint Hill 4-H Club; Mrs. Graham Hackley, leader for Amissville 4-H " Club; Mrs. Joe Hitt, leader for Forest Grove 4-H Club; Mrs. Clarence Racer, leader for Washington 4H Club; Mrs. George Taylor, leader for Sperryville 4-H Club; Mrs. Carson Johnson, leader for Sperryville 4-H Club; Mrs. John Revercomb, leader for Belle Meade 4-H Club; and Mrs. Maury Brown, leader for Belle Meade 4-H Club.
Two Rappahannock 4-H girls entered the area 4-H contest in August. At this contest they competed against girls from nine nearby counties. Margaret Walters, a 4-H member of Amissville last year, entered the Food Preparation Contest and came in third. Gail Scott, a 4-H member of the Washington 4-H Club came in third in the Clothing Construction contest.
Three 4-H members from the county attended State Short Course at Blacksburg in 1949. These 4-H’ers were Bobby Carter of the Amissville 4-H club, Margaret Walters of Amissville 4-H club and Mary Helen Bruce of Sperryville 4-H club. This was truly a wonderful experience for
