Do you have identical twin calves on your farm?
Weanling twin calves, up to five months of age, are needed for nutrition studies at the Agricultural Research Center Beltsville, Md. The U.S.D.A. is willing to pay better than market prices for them.
Breeders within about 300 miies from Washington, who believe they have identical twin calves are requested to write to Dr. C. F. Winchester, Bureau of Animal Industry, Beksville, Md.
Preferred breeds aie Aberdeen Angt-s, Herefords, and Shorthorns, but the Bureau can use either grades or crossbreds of any of the above or other beef breeds. Twins from dairy cows with a beef bill as the sire are acceptable.
To distinguish identical twins from fraternal twins, an analysis must be made of the pair for similarity of physical traits. The most noticeable characteristics that must show in both members of a pair are color, color pattern, hair whorls, nose pattern, whiskers, length and diameter of tail, set of legs, rump, and head.
