cial help was given to four women in the county on Landscaping and four women were given help on “Arrangements of Kitchen,’’ and also, a county meeting was held on Insect Control.
As you can see many varied demonstrations were given which have aided in furthering better home making practices throughout the county.
The County Fair was another highlight with which the Home Demonstration Clubs and 4-H Clubs of the county had a lot to do in making a success. . . and by all reports the "Fair” seemed to be a big success. Around 1500 people attended the one-day fair. There were approximately 450 women’s exhibits and 175 children exhibits. The reason the “Fair” is brought out as a highlight for Home Demonstration clubs and 4-H clubs in ’49 is because the Home Demonstrawomen and 4-H girls did so much toward making it a success as said above. The Home Demonstration women entered all women exhibits and the 4-H children and leaders helped enter all children exhibits, along with the help of the Home Economics Department of the Washington and Sperryville schools. The Home Demonstration women and 4-H members helped with the judging and decoration of the exhibit room. Then, too, the Fair brought out the accomplishments of the H. D. Clubs and 4-H clubs during 1949. Here were displayed
