Since in Virginia pasture grass is by far fhe most important and cheapest cattle feed, then it becomes of utmost importance that we listen to our agronomist about ways of imp’roving it.
As beef cattle prices drop, the wise farmer is going to look for a way to drop the cost of production, to try to maintain a good profit. Pasture improvement is his best bet. This can be accomplished hy increasing the carrying capacity per acre and hy increasing the length of the glazing period. Both objectives are obtained Hy liberal fertilization.
