The Rappahannock Republican delegation headed by Chairman Frances (Tiny) Carney, attended the 7th District Republican Convention last Saturday, May 13, 1978, in Harrisonburg at James Madison University. Approximately 400 delegates and alternates gathered to nominate a Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives and a Chairman of the 7th Congressional District Republican Party. J. Kenneth Robinson was unanimously nominated for the fifth time to be the Republican standard bearer in the U. S. House of Representatives’ race and Garland R. Steger Jr., of Culpeper, was chosen to lead the 7th District Republicans for a second term.
The remainder of the Rappahannock delegation was composed of delegates George H. Sharp and Christopher Parrish, together with alternates John G. Carney Jr., and David Konick. Alternate John L. Marocchi was unable to attend because of an urgent prior committment.
