In calling the special meeting, Mrs. Massie stated she had given "no indication of hiring any additional personnel." She added that the meeting had been called to “evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency” of personnel.
At approximately-7:40, the School Board went into executive session. Midnight rolled around before the die hard audience was invited back into the library. At several points during the four and a half hour closed meeting, superintendent William Bloomer and assistant superintendent Ray Hogan were sent from the rodm—sometimes singly and sometimes as a pair.
When the Board returned to open session, Mrs. Massie announced that no action had been taken. Topics of discussion included "personnel evaluation of the administration and Board,” according to the School Board Chairman.

Park Visits Down
Visits to Shenandoah National Park decreased 54 per cent for both the month of April and the calendar year to date compared to 1977, according to Park Superintendent Robert Jacobsen. In April 1977, visitors totalled 312, 700 compared to 141,300 for April 1978. Visitors for the calendar year were 610,900 in 1977 and 276,600 in 1978. Statistics from Big Meadows Weather Station show the maximum temperature for April as 72 degrees and the minimum as 21 degrees. Precipitation measured 1.94 inches and snowfall totalled four inches.
