ne Kappahannock School Board held a special meeting on Tuesday and spent over our hours in executive session to discuss “personnel matters.”
In the first few minutes of open session, Chairman Beverly Massie noted that all persons who had requested notification of special meetings under Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act had been contacted. On this basis, Superintendent William Bloomer assured her that the special meeting was legal.
Before Mrs. Massie received a motion to go into closed session, Board member Paul Nichols asked if there weren’t other matters to discuss. He specifically mentioned the possibility of h iring a “t h ird adm in istrator. ”

Three single-vehicle crashes were reported on Rappahannock roads in the past week, two Friday and one on Sunday.
According to Trooper R. A. Baines, King Yen Tsang of Harrisonburg overturned on Route 211 just east of Ben Venue May 12. He lost control of the 70 Volkswagen he was driving, turned over and totaled the car. He was cited for reckless driving. The same day William Daily Davis of Castleton operating a 66 Dodge pickup lost control of his truck and struck the fence on the property of Vivian Yancey on Route 640. Charges are pending, said Trooper Baines. Bobby Lee Smoot of Flint Hill was cited for reckless driving in a crash which occurred about 2:45 a.m. Sunday on Route 618. Smoot was driving a 1977 Oldsmobile which went out of control, up and down an embankment before coming to rest, according to Deputy R. D. Hawkins. The car was a total loss and Smoot was taken to Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton by Castleton Rescue Squad.
