Jay Dawson’s application for a large lot development on 480 acres near Huntly breezed through the first step of the subdivision approval process at the Rappahannock Planning Commission's public hearing on Wednesday. After a brief discussion, the Planners voted unanimously to recommend that the Supervisors rezone the tract from agriculture and conservation to residential subdivision.
Planning Commission Chairman Herbert Barksdale asked for comment for or against the proposal but didn’t receive any response from Nels Parson or Dorothy Davis, the only spectators at the public hearing with no direct interest in Dawson’s application.
‘‘Apparently nobody cares much one way or the other about your subdivision, Jay," remarked Barksdale.
At the opening of the hearing. Planner Newbill Miller reported on the site inspection conducted by the Commission. He described Dawson's tract as "Upland," primarily in pasture and
