It is obvious that parents are teachers, but the best method for this teaching is not always used. The best way to put across the message, so that it will have lasting impact is through example. Children tend to copy what they see, no matter what they are told. This goes back to the old adage of "don’t do what 1 do, but do what I say do.” If there is no discrepency between what is said and what is done the point is certain to get across.
A good family should teach discipline and moral values. Good citizenship requires discipline. Young people need a solid background in these areas to form good character. Discipline and morals are integral parts of citizenship.
Good citizens must not be afraid to get involved. Fear of involvement is too common. The best way to lose this fear is through constant practice in participation. Each person must be capable of expressing his own opinions
