Two suspects in the armed robberies and murders that occurred in Culpeper, Orange and Rappahannock on April 25 and 26 have been arrested.
James Stewart Simpson was apprehended late Friday night on Route 522 west of Culpeper while traveling in a car with two other people. Charged with two counts of murder and armed robbery, Simpson is being held in Culpeper jail in lieu of SI00,OCX) bond. He appeared briefly in General District Court on Monday. Attorney Robert A. Niles of Niles and Chapman was appointed to defend Simpson and a preliminary hearing was set for June 8.
