The question quite naturally follows — Why did practically the entire staff of Rappahannock teachers fail to arouse any response in this worthy subject?
Assuming that character is more important than cash, why were both subjects ignored by almost the entire student body? In a society where work and reward are coexistent, is $25 out of line for an hour or so of work on character?
The American home is the voice of democracy and the vitality of the nation. If we expect to raise giant oaks from little acorns, then the little acorns should not be allowed to roll around on rocky soil, but they must be carefully developed by the home, the schools, the church and in society.
