Light Horse
Pony Club
The 4-H Light Horse and Pony Club is once more active in Rappahannock County. Our group, led by Nina Beck, consists of eleven members. Our regular meetings are held every other week in the barn at Roundabout Farm. So far, we’ve learned to groom; tack up; halter and lead a horse; mount and dismount; name the parts of an English saddle and how to clean a saddle and bridle. Several members are currently planning demonstrations they will give the group to complete one of their project requirements.
Our officers are Aaron Schumaker, president; Diedre Coombs, vice president; Kelly Smithgall, secretary; Kathryn Davis, treasurer; and Chandre Davis, reporter.
Plans for October include a trail ride at Rainbow Run in Sperryville (10:00 on Oct. 14) and a visit to Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Va., to watch the Short Hill Northern District 4-H Invitational Statewide Combined Training Event.
Anyone interested in joining the 4-H Light Horse and Pony Club can contact the Extension Office, or Nina Beck at 987-8019.
