Remove screens from windows to allow more of the sun’s radiation to enter through the windows.

At night, and on cloudy days keep the draperies or shades closed.

Tight-fitting draperies with cornices or valances are more efficient than loose fitting ones for keeping the heat in the room.

Make window covers out of cardboard and cover the inside with aluminum foil. These covers will reduce heat losses at windows and the foil will reflect heat toward the center of the room.
