Ruby Dwyer, students learn very quickly what their strengths and weaknesses are and move immediately to work on the identified weaknesses. They are expected not only to learn the skills well enough to pass a test at the conclusion of the unit of study (with a score no less than 100!), but to exhibit recall at preestablished intervals throughout the year.
The resource Skills Development Laboratory for Reading, Grades 4-7, is designed to take over where the Primary Reading Lab leaves off to provide a “double dose” of reading assistance for the older elementary student. Reading Specialist, Ms. Bobbie Cook, and instructional aide, Mrs. Margaret Ann Wayland, work with approximately sixty students daily. Utilizing a multitude of high interest, low vocabulary materials, students move individually through a structured program at a pace designed to challenge and encourage him or her to master those skills which for various reasons he or she did not master when they were initially presented.
At the high school level, newcomer Miss Sally Bristol, with aide Miss Lizzie Eastham, provide a stimulating environment for approximately 58 students
