The American Conservative Union, a national political organization with over 300,000 members, has announced its interim ratings of the United States Congress. Members of the House and Senate were evaluated on the basis of 20 key votes taken between January and June of this year with 100 per cent considered ACU’s perfect score.

The average rating awarded by ACU for members of the House was 46 per cent, slightly higher than the 1977 average of 44.6 per cent. The Senate average was 38.1. virtually unchanged from last year’s 38.7 per cent.
