House Democrats totaled 29 per cent, while House Republicans received an average of 78 per cent. Senate Democrats averaged 22 per cent and Senate Republicans received 63 per cent.
Republican incumbent J. Kenneth Robinson, who represents Rappahannock as the Congressman from Virginia's Seventh Congressional District, registered an almost perfect score by ACU standards. Robinson took the conservative position 91 per cent of the time, according to ACU’s rankings.
Virginia's Senators Harry F. Byrd and William Scott tied in scoring a little ahead of Robinson with a 92 per cent tally on ACU’s scale.
