—amending the state's laws governing work release programs so that the State Board of Corrections can regulate alj work release programs for local jails and state prisons. This would allow the state to get certification from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration. Without this certification prisoners on work release cannot work on federally funded projects.
—repealing sections in the Code prohibiting lawyer advertising to conform with an earlier U.S. Supreme Court ruling and to conform with the Attorney General's opinion issued in March, 1978. Since the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that lawyers have a first amendment right to advertise the fees of their legal services, state laws prohibiting such advertising are no longer valid.
