In Agreement
To the editor:
I am in agreement with the others who have written regarding your publishing photographs of dead bobcats.
I am also a hunter and 1 respectfully disagree that it “takes a skilled hunter to bag this quarry.” Your caption in the first bobcat photo stated that the hunter shot a bobcat after it had been treed by his dogs!
Since there are so few bobcats around, I think it’s mostly luck. I wouldn’t shoot one myself—and particularly not one in a tree as they did at Piedmont Farms. I was taught that hunting should also be sporting.
You stated in one photo caption that "these animals can be fierce using their sharp teeth and very long, sharp claws.” 1 hope you’re not suggesting that humans should fear this timid animal.
Bobcats aren’t hurting anybody—1 wish we could Say the same thing about man.
