You know these folks down here in Richmond had a lot of icy streets last week and 1 can assure you they do not know a thing about spreading sand. This place looked like a desert when I went to work Monday morning. A big ole bus made a left turn in front of me, stepped on the gas and a cloud of sand flew up in my face and almost snuffed out my pipe. There is enough grit in my craw to last the rest of my days.
Speaking of days, there just aren't enough hours now to get all the work done. We were informed by the Majority Leader that the number of bills submitted in this session of the General Assembly is now close to 2700. That’s almost 700 more than we had during the sixty day session last year and we are supposed to get the job done in 32 days. I am afraid some of them may not make it.
A bill that I introduced for the folks at Lake of the Woods in Orange County came out of subcommittee today with a minor amendment on a vote of 5 to 0 in favor. It now goes back to the full Committee before coming to the Assembly. When it was first heard by the full Committee, Atwell Somerville came down and testified. He did an excellent job and it was decided to send the bill to a Subcommittee for their scrutiny. Members of the Subcommittee today felt my bill would have very little trouble at the next step.
