RICHMOND—Gov. John N. Dalton says he is concerned about the safety of Virginia motorists who mav become entangled in two huge caravans of farm vehicles expected to travel across the state next week.
Dalton told a Capitol news conference Tuesday that State Police are expecting about 1.000 slow moving tractors and support vehicles in each of two "tractorcades" headed toward Washington to dramatize the plight of American farmers.
The caravans are being organized by the American Agricultural Movement and are traveling toward Washington from several states.
Dalton said one group from the northwest and midwest will be meeting in Memphis, Tenn., and will enter Virginia along Interstate 81 at Bristol. It
