Rappahannock New* Staff Writer Superintendent William Bloomer has recommended adoption of a $2 million budget for Rappahannock public schools in 1960-81, a 30 per cent increase over the current year. In presenting his proposals to the school board at Tuesday’s special meeting, Bloomer gave two sets of figures; one for his recommended budget and one for a basic budget that meets state mandates on education but doesn’t allow for any expansion or improvement in the county’s educational program. The basic budget totals SI,874,414—a 19 per cent increase over the current year.
In the recommended budget. Bloomer proposes a 14 percent salary increase for all school personnel: nonprofessionals (bus drivers, custodians, aides, etc.), teachers and administrators. For teachers, the 14 per cent includes the merit or step increase that they would have received for an added year’s experience.
