First step in the

realization of a

recreation center was the drilling of a well at the site on Route 211 at Washington. Rappahannock Historical Society held open house in the historical building in Washington. Sketches and plans for the building renovation were to be shown, and plans for a house tour wore also to be discussed. The question of Wilderness designations in Shenandoah National Park was being discussed at the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District meeting and pros and cons were coming in all directions. The Cooperatives were having their spring sales and the results of the Rappahannock races were told in story and pictures. Spring feeder calf and bull sales were in the planning stage or becoming a reality.

SPERRYVILLE Rescue

Squad just put a new

1970 rescue ambulance into service. Twenty persons just completed standard and advanced first aid courses.

Nctus “Sonny” Brown, president of the Rappahannock Jaycees was in Roanoke for the state winter conference.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Smith of Washington had just returned from a visit of two weeks in Lauderdale-bythe-Sea, Fla.

Mrs. Edna Williams entertained with a party in honor of the ninth birthday of her daughter Rhonda.
