In 1979-80, the county allocated S893.040 to the school budget, including $20,000 in revenue sharing. Bloomer reported that final word on state funding should come ten days after the * General Assembly adjourns on March 10.
In response, the board agreed to postpone the date previously set for approving the school budget. The special meeting will be held on March 24, instead of March 18, at 7:30 in the elementary school library. Another special session for public response to the superintendent’s proposed budget will be held, Thursday, March 13, at 7:30 in the elementary school.
Figuring on his calculator, board member Walter Masterson reported that the per pupil cost for education in 1980-81 under the recommended budget will be $1,767 and $1,618 in the basic based on enrollment of 1,158 students.

1974-7S’1t **$* SStM Comparing the price oi-» education five years ago with the budget recommended for 1980-81, the cost per pupil has increased slightly over 51 per cent, Masterson noted. (At the same time, the rate of inflation has been 52 per cent).
“Since I’ve been on this school board, the school budget has gone up approximately $100,000 per year,’’ said Masterson. Referring to the $300,000 increase this year in the basic budget and the $500,000 increase in the recommended budget proposed by Bloomer, Masterson said, “This is an exceptional jump and these are exceptional times.’’
