Homemakers Club, the Amissville United Methodist Church and the Ruritanettes, who have loyally and graciously prepared and served meals on a rotating schedule, the Ruritans did a turn-about-fair-play act in gratitude.
Under the skillful hand of Bill Smet, Bill Weaver and Jerry Curtis, the usual cooks enjoyed a deserved and delicious meal of Brunswick stew, rice, noodles, tossed salad and dessert.
Following the announcement by B. Settle of the coming fourth annual Talent night on March 22, several letters of appreciation were read from former POW's.
These were representaitve of the 427 copies of a resolution printed on parchment and sent to all the Hanoi ex-Pow’s. The Resolution, passed in 1977, called for a Heroes Day to be proclaimed by the U. S. Congress on February 13 as an honor to those men who so courageously withstood the cruelty and torture of the evening.
President Louis Zindel then introduced the speaker, Mr. Jesse Surles from Warrenton, who held the attention of the entire group of ladies and men as he outlined the 1976 changes and provisions for the estate tax exemptions.
