The area in Sursum Corda used for the infant-toddler program has to meet special requirements in order to be licensed by the state. There’s a sink in the room, a crib for every child with fresh sheets daily, a diapering table that is disinfected after each change, a refrigerator, a play area and a rocking chair. “A lot of things that I thought weren’t necessary, I can see the need for now,” said Harris.
State law also requires that the center carry accident insurance for each child. In addition to the state mandates, Harris has set standards of her own.
