Saving Tips
Packets of energy saving information from the Virginia Division of Energy are available in Washington from county engineer Fanning Baumgardner.
The package contains a step-by-step approach toward reducing home heating and cooling costs including a phamphlet on heating with wood and a computer analysis questionnaire for home owners to fill out and send to the energy division for a list of money saving improvements.
The information packets are free. Interested persons may check over a sample of the contents at the Rappahannock County Library or at Baumgardner’s office in Washington in the old theater building.
McKown
Mrs. Robbie R. McKown, 80, of Winchester died Wednesday, February 27, 1980, at her residence.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, with the Rev. Russell J. Urquhart in charge.
Mrs. McKown was born August 7, 1899, at Flint Hill, daughter of the late Edwin and Albinia Payne Ramey. She was the wife of the late John William McKown and a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. She attended Madison College and was a graduate of the Winchester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse.
She is survived by one son, John R. McKown of Winchester, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
