The English books, he said, will allow college bound students in the eighth, ninth and tenth grades to take advanced courses. He noted that college prep English is already offered to juniors and seniors. Math books are for a fith year advanced math class to be offered next year to students who began algebra in the eighth grade. The amount allocated for instructional supplies at the elementary and high schools jumps from $20,700 this year to $33,282 in the basic budget and $39,0% in the recommended. If the board goes with the reommended amount. Bloomer explained, “we can eliminate student fees that some individuals have questioned as to their legality.” He added that the recommended amount reflects almost everything requested by the two principals.
Piedmont tuition jumps from $59,302 in the current year to $75,475 in both the basic and recommended budgets for 1980-81. Bloomer explained that the 1980-81 per pupil cost at Piedmont is figured on the basis of Rappahannock’s 1979-80 share of the enrollment in the regional school.
