At Wednesday s hearing, commonwealth's attorney Douglas Baumgardner asked for revocation of Douglas' bond and his commitment to Central State, charging that he failed to meet the probation condition for psychiatric treatment.
According to testimony from the director of outpatient services at the Chesterfield Mental Health Clinic, Douglas was told he could receive services from the clinic on a walk-in basis on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Vickie Griffin testified that office records show Douglas called once on December 4, 1980, was told the in-take worker was with a client and said he would call back. With no further contact from Douglas by January 7, she said, the clinic contacted Baumgardner and Douglas’ court appointed attorney to report that he hadn’t come in for psychiatric treatment as stipulated in the court order, a copy of which was sent to the clinic.
